Early/Phase 1 Treatment

By the age of 7, the first adult molars erupt, establishing the back bite. During this time, Dr. Parker as an orthodontist, can evaluate for the correct front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships. For example, the presence of erupting incisors can indicate possible overbite, open bite, crowding or a gummy smile. Timely screening increases the chances for an incredible smile. While in many cases Dr. Parker will recommend waiting for more growth prior to starting treatment, there are some situations that are best treated at a younger age. A complimentary initial exam will give Dr. Parker the opportunity to evaluate the child’s orthodontic condition and give you the answers to your concerns.

Some of the direct results of interceptive (also called early or phase one) treatment are:
- Creating room for crowded, erupting teeth
- Creating facial symmetry through influencing jaw growth
- Reducing the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth
- Preserving space for unerupted teeth
